Latino Portraits

These portraits are oil paintings I made of local residents between 2010 and 2014. At the time I was interested in exploring self-representation within the Latino identity. The sitters were recruited by word of mouth and they were all paid the model rate for posing for a single day. They were asked to choose their pose and clothes, and all wanted me to use their own names. We chatted animatedly while they posed. Most of these portraits have been in several shows separately.
